CPPE Men’s Health

CPPE Men’s health distance learning and e-assessment

Module aim

To help you understand health issues specific to men and understand and improve the services that you offer to men, enabling you to engage them in the healthcare system.

Relevance to the True NTH Exercise and Diet Intervention

  • Male reproductive system
  • Prostate cancer and its treatment
  • Erectile dysfunction and LUTS (lower urinary tract symptoms)
  • Communication skills – how to talk to men about health issues (including sensitive subjects)

Additional learning

  • Prostate Cancer UK course for pharmacists – covers the identification of symptoms of prostate cancer in a pharmacy setting and guides men through the next steps in the diagnosis process.
  • BBC Radio 4 interview about a man’s experience of prostate cancer treatment and how it affected him. Listen to ‘Parting with my prostate.’
  • Short (18 minute) film, part of the ‘Getting Down to Coping’ project, in which men talk about their experience of the side effects of different treatments.

CPPE Vascular risk and the NHS health check

CPPE Vascular risk and the NHS health check program module

Module aim

To provide you with an understanding of cardiovascular risk. As well as defining cardiovascular risk, this e-learning programme looks at some of the assessment tools such as QRisk2 and how they can be used to estimate an individual’s risk, and highlights the importance of talking to patients about the risk factors they can modify.

CPPE Consultation skills for pharmacy practice: taking a patient-centred approach distance learning and e-assessment

Module aim

To equip pharmacists with effective communication and consultation skills. This module covers the key skills and behaviours expected of all pharmacy professionals when speaking to patients.

  • Motivational interviewing techniques

Additional learning
